   Hello,

   I have a Magellan CrossoverGPS. Unfortunately Magellan abandoned their product amazingly quickly and it's now discontinued and unsupported. The vehicle navigation maps are getting out of date and they have no plans to update them. I'm rather annoyed.

   In any case, it is becoming useless as a car GPS so I'm looking for a replacement. I'd prefer one that doesn't require a Windows machine for map updates. What would y'all recommend for a Mac-friendly (or just not Mac-hostile) vehicle navigation GPS?

   John,

   I have the Garmin Nuvi. I do not have the model number with me but it came with lifetime traffic and map updates. I have had no issues at all with it when I connect it to my Mac for updates. When you do buy one get the lifetime updates. I had a Magellan before and it was an outragous cost to update the maps.

   I like GPS Drive by MotionX. But this is an iPhone/iPad/iPod app.
