— Web 2.0 – What is it? —

RSS feeds, social networking, messaging, Twitter - do these phrases make sense to you? Are you confused by the options, and just want to hide? Have you thought maybe they would enhance your business communications - or that other part of your life, your personal time? Well, come to TMUG on Monday, 14 July, as we celebrate Bastille Day by setting you free from the ignorance of current trends in online communications. You'll learn about Facebook, Flickr, MySpace, iChat, Adium, IRC, Yahoo! Messenger, and discover which would better suit your circumstances. (There's a good chance it's not all of them!)

If you're already adept and connected through one or many of these services, please don't think you don't need to be here. Au contraire, we'll need you to testify and chat with, and maybe even break into small affinity groups. You never know what will happen during the presentation, because it's being led by our own Smythe Richbourg, who thrives on random chaos! (I know that because it's on his Facebook page! I just poked him and wrote on his wall.)

We'll also cover RSS - that amazing protocol that allows you to keep up with changes to websites without visiting them. Monitor photo feeds, blog posts, or the latest deals from your favorite store site, all without having to open your web browser!

Bob Chandler will return to moderate the Q&A session this month. Whether you have a question or an answer, you can add to the discussion. There will be several door prize drawings for TMUG members throughout the meeting. The meeting will begin at 6:30 pm on July 14 at the Hope Community Church in Raleigh. Remember, TMUG is the undisputed leading Mac User Group in the Triangle... & beyond! See you there!
