iPhone Film Making
With the release of the iPhone 4, even professional filmmakers have started to take notice. Join us as guest speaker John Turner explores examples of iPhone films, 3rd party applications, cool gadgets, and some tips to take your video to the next level.
John has developed several iOS apps, including iBookie, WordZinga, TimeOut Monitor, Snow Master, & Sticker Safari. In addition to being a mobile apps developer, John enjoys photography and capturing video. Recently he started work on a documentary film project, and led a session on collaborative documentary film making at Macworld | iWorld 2012. John grew up in Kentucky, but recently moved to Apex. He has been a Mac user for over 20 years, and he is currently studying at the Center for Documentary Studies in Durham.
If you missed John’s talk, or if you want to follow-up on the topics & items mentioned, John has published a pdf of his Keynote presentation at http://bit.ly/TMUG_iFilm.
(NB – This case sensitive url will download the pdf from John’s Dropbox in another tab.)
Annual officer elections are specified by TMUG’s bylaws to be held in March, with the term of office to run from April through March. The nominating committee has selected a slate of candidates for the officers of President, 1st Vice President, 2nd Vice president, Secretary, & Treasurer, which will be presented to the membership at the March meeting for their approval. All members are encouraged to attend.
The TMUG membership approved by acclamation officers for 2012 – 2013. They are: David Spector – President, Smythe Richbourg – 1st Vice President, Lori Todd – 2nd Vice President, Chuck Nall – Secretary, Chips Chapman – Treasurer. The officers elect will assume their new positions on April 1.
TMUG members Dave Spector and Chuck Nall are undertaking creating podcasts of TMUG meetings. The intent is to create a short podcast of our monthly meetings & publish them to YouTube or another service. If you are interesting in participating in this project, let them know.
Do you have a question about your Mac or iOS device? If so, bring it to the meeting and ask the assembled TMUG masses at our Q&A session. Someone at the meeting probably has an answer. TMUG member & Mac consultant Bob Chandler will be there to moderate the discussion. And, if you are a TMUG member, be sure to get a ticket for the door prize drawings. There are always a variety of nice prizes, and some lucky TMUGers will go home as winners!
Have you entered TMUG’s MacBook Air membership contest? The contest has 2 purposes – we are celebrating and promoting TMUG’s new web presence and we are having a membership drive. The winner of the contest will get a new Apple 11″ MacBook Air (or Apple product of equivalent value at the end of the contest). Don’t forget to sign the contest logbook at the meeting to get credit for your attendance!
The contest is similar to the iMac giveaway contest we held 3 years ago. Members get points for renewing, attending meetings, & participating on the forum. What if you’re not a TMUG member? Join or renew your membership now to start earning points. Details are published on the MacBook Air Contest web page, along with a member point tally table. Check the contest entry log to see your updated points on the regular meeting day.
Keep checking TMUG.org, or our presence on Google+, Meetup, Twitter, or Facebook for updates & details. We hope that all TMUG members & other folks in our community will participate in the forum at our new home. Forum subscribers may opt to receive email notifications when a topic or reply is posted on the forum. And you can subscribe to the RSS feed of the forum.
TMUG meetings are open to the public – you don’t have to be a TMUG member to attend. The same applies to participation on the TMUG forum, but a TMUG membership will grant you greater access to our services, including entries in our MacBook Air contest and our monthly door prizes. And it will likely give you a warm feeling inside, too. Join TMUG or renew your membership for only $35 for a full year. You may pay with cash, check, or most major credit & debit cards at a monthly meeting. (We are using the Square card reader for iOS for card payments, which will send you a receipt by email. TMUG absorbs the transaction fees using this card payment system as a convenience to members.) If you can’t make it to a meeting, you may also join or renew by mail by completing a membership application and sending your check to our PO box.
Be sure to join us at Caldwell Hall on the NCSU campus on March 12, 2012!
