OS X Lion — Your Questions Answered
For the October meeting, Apple Systems Engineer (and TMUG friend) Francis Shepherd will make a presentation on Lion, Apple’s latest OS X release (10.7). We had invited Francis to come to the August 8th meeting, but he had other commitments. Francis will surely tell us about all the new features provided by Lion, which Macs will support it, how to do the installation, and about the caveats that Lion introduces. Many TMUGers have upgraded to Lion since it was introduced. If you have questions about doing the installation or how to optimize it for your needs, bring them to the meeting. Put the date on your calendar to learn all about Lion.

At the September meeting, we announced our new MacBook Air contest. The contest has a multiple purpose – to celebrate and promote TMUG’s new web presence, and as a membership drive. And the prize for the winner will be a new Apple 11″ MacBook Air (or Apple product of equivalent value at the end of the contest). The contest will be similar to the iMac giveaway contest we held 3 years ago. Members will get points for renewing, attending meetings, & participating on the forum. TMUG members may start earning points now. Details are published on the MacBook Air Contest web page.
A regular feature of each TMUG meeting is the usually informative Q&A session. Bob Chandler will be on hand to moderate the discussion. Bring your questions for the group to try and answer. If you are a TMUG member, be sure to get a ticket for the door prize drawings, too.
Keep checking TMUG.org, or our presence on Meetup, Twitter, or Facebook for updates & details. We hope that TMUG members & other folks in our community will participate in the forum at our new home.
You don’t have to have a TMUG membership to attend TMUG meetings or to subscribe to TMUG-list, but a member will grant you greater access to our services. And it will likely give you a warm feeling inside. Join or renew your TMUG membership for only $35 for a full year. You may pay with cash, check, or most major credit cards at a monthly meeting, and, using our Square card reader for iPhone, you will get an email receipt from Square. TMUG will absorb the transaction fees using this new payment system as a convenience to members. You may also join or renew by mail by completing a membership application & sending your check to our PO box.
We hope you will join us at Caldwell Hall on the NCSU campus on October 10, 2011!
