Podcasting and a New TMUG Contest

The program for the September meeting is on podcasting. Jay Glatfelter, an Apple Specialist at the Crabtree Apple Store, will tell us all about podcasting, including showing us the basics and where to go from there. Jay and his father Jack are the creators of The Lost Podcast with Jay and Jack, one of the most popular “unofficial” podcasts on the popular TV show LOST since they started it October 1, 2005.

To celebrate and promote TMUG’s new web presence, we are going to have a contest. And the prize for the winner will be a new MacBook Air (or Apple products of equivalent value). The contest will be similar to the iMac giveaway contest we held 3 years ago. Members will get points for renewing, attending meetings, & participating on the forum. More details will be announced at the September meeting and here on the TMUG web site.

WordPressTMUG’s new WordPress published site has replaced our “old” wiki based site. If you haven’t already registered for the forum, don’t put it off any more. The forum is the“new” method for our TMUG community to communicate opinions, comments, & questions.TheTMUG-list has ceased publishing (for now). The TMUG-list archive of posts over the past 6+ years may eventually be published on our new server. Any content from the old server may be available, but on a limited, off-line, by appointment only basis. It will not be discarded. Send a note to the XCom via the Contact page if you have questions.

Keep checking TMUG.org, or our presence on MeetupTwitter, or Facebook for updates & details. We hope that TMUG members & participants will remain with us at our new home.

Each TMUG meeting has a usually informative Q&A session. Bob Chandler will be at this one to moderate the discussion. There will also be some door prize drawings for TMUG members, too.

You don’t have to have a TMUG membership to attend TMUG meetings or to subscribe to TMUG-list, but a member will grant you greater access to our services. And it will likely give you a warm feeling inside. Join or renew your TMUG membership for only $35 for a full year. You may pay with cash, check, or most major credit cards at a monthly meeting, and, using our Square card reader for iPhone, you will get an email receipt from Square. TMUG will absorb the transaction fees using this new payment system as a convenience to members. You may also join or renew by mail by completing a membership application & sending your check to our PO box.

We hope you will join us at Caldwell Hall on the NCSU campus on September 12, 2011!
